The Mercury News: Apple will compensate users of slow iPhones
Apple will begin paying compensation to iPhone users whose smartphones have been slowed down. This is reported by The Mercury News.
According to him, the corporation will pay the owners of smartphones who have reported problems with the devices through the court, $65 each, or about 6.3 thousand rubles. In total, Apple will pay about $ 500 million – this was agreed by the corporation’s lawyers and smartphone owners back in 2020.
The lawsuit, according to which users of the devices of the American brand accused the company of deliberately slowing down old smartphones, was filed back in 2017. In total, about 3 million users filed a lawsuit against the corporation. It is known that devices with an old battery could work slower, but Apple initially did not recognize this feature of their gadgets.
According to representatives of the plaintiffs, owners of iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE, 7 and 7 Plus smartphones will receive compensation. Those users who applied in 2020 will be able to count on the payment.
In July 2022, it became known that Apple would pay $50 million to owners of MacBooks with a problematic keyboard. The agreement covered customers who purchased MacBooks, MacBook Airs, and most MacBook Pro models between 2015 and 2019.
