The National Institute of Migration of Mexico (INM) announced that several Ecuadorian migrants were rescued in a building last weekend.
Through a statement, the entity said it carried out two humanitarian actions on Sunday involving 61 migrants from Ecuador, Honduras and Guatemala.
The first occurred before noon and involved 41 Ecuadorians asking for help at a home in the municipality of Amozoc, Puebla state.
Within the group, 28 women and men of legal age and 13 minors were accompanied and left behind by polleros, a name given to people who transport undocumented immigrants into the United States.
The second intervention took place after 1 p.m., at a toll booth in the municipality of Tlaxcalancingo, where 20 migrants from Honduras and Guatemala were found who could not prove regular residence in the country.
Nine men and women of legal age and 10 minors were from Honduras, while there was also one adult from Guatemala.
“With the support of the municipal and state police, 49 foreign migrants traveling in family units were transferred to the Home for Migrant Girls, Boys and Adolescents of the State Comprehensive Family Development System. The remaining 12 foreign migrants – all of them adults – were taken to the INM offices to start the corresponding administrative procedure,” it added.
