Apple is usually quite reluctant to make changes, but this year it seems to have finally buckled. There are many indications that iPhone 15 – which is expected to premiere in mid-September – will be supported the new charging standard. The photos that appeared on the web show an Apple smartphone with a universal USB type C connector. iPhone fans (or at least some of them) have been waiting for this for years.
No more Lightning. iPhone 15 reportedly finally with USB Type-C
Abandoning the Lightning standard that Apple he held on tightly for years, forced on the giant by the European Union. Under the new regulations, the common charging standard for all portable devices sold in the EU will be USB Type C. However, it did not disclose from which generation of iPhone it will start using USB-C. The new law comes into force in autumn 2024, so the iPhone 15 could be sold in the Community for a year with the Lightning connector.
Many that is, on the occasion of the premiere of Fifteen.
Now we have further evidence pointing to thisthat the first iPhone with USB-C will actually appear in just over a month. Several photos have appeared on the network where we can see the iPhone 15 Pro with USB Type C in place of the traditional connector lightning. The photos were posted on the X portal (Twitter) by the ICE UNIVERSE channel, which is known for numerous leaks, but noted that it could not confirm their authenticity. So it can be a real smartphone from Apple or just as well a dummy built at the design stage.
However, that’s not all, because photos from two other informants who often provide leaks about new Apple products have also appeared on the web. The photos show panels with USB-C connectors prepared for assembly in the iPhone 15, 15 Plus and 15 Pro Max. Here too, however, we cannot be sure that the elements in the photos actually come from one of the factories where – probably for some time – iPhones are assembled.
According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the premiere of the new iPhone 15 will take place on Tuesday, September 12, i.e. in a month. Then we will be sure whether Apple has actually decided to bend and use the universal USB-C port for all manufacturers, or whether it will continue to stick to its solution.
