The Chancellery of the Sejm has settled a tender for tablets for deputies. The choice fell on devices manufactured by Apple. Diners in the Lower House will have iPads with a chip at their disposal A14 Bionic, 256GB of built-in memory and a 10.9-inch screen. We’re dealing with here liquid retina display with a resolution of 2360 x 1640 pixels. There is also a 5G module on board the modern device. As “Rzeczpospolita” explains, a total of 600 devices will be sent to the Sejm (140 more than there are deputies).
Members will get iPads. High models with 5G on board
And although the value the tender is large (PLN 2.5 million) – and the price of the device is high (PLN 4.5 thousand), experts emphasize that tablets allow you to save half a million zlotys a year – primarily on paper. Seym papers, which until 2012 were sent to deputies in a traditional form, are now digital. There is also no doubt that the Chancellery of the Sejm chose expensive but good tablets.
The authorities of the Sejm are also satisfied. “The price below PLN 3.7 thousand net for one device is, in the opinion of KS, favorable from the point of view of the quality received in return,” informs the Information Center of the Sejm. And he emphasizes that MEPs have also entered the digital age.
Members will be able to buy their tablets. iPad even for … PLN 300
As explained by the Information Center of the Sejm, thanks to tablets, it is possible, among others, to “remote work during sessions of the Sejm, with the possibility of participating in voting, and ensuring an appropriate level of security.” The CIS also points out that “the digitization of the circulation of parliamentary documents is a beneficial solution – it speeds up their delivery to the addressees, and by saving paper it is also ecological.”
Members who will finish their current term of office will gain the right to purchase the used equipment. This was the case with tablets purchased in 2015. The average redemption price in the Sejm ranged from PLN 350 to PLN 500.
In 2019, the Sejm also bought 600 new Apple tablets. And these devices will be available for purchase, otherwise, for fear of data leakage, the equipment will have to be disposed of
