The Ministry of Digitization announced the selection of laptop suppliers for fourth graders in 8 of the 73 regions where the government program is implemented. The schools located there will receive 44,909 devices with a total value of over PLN 132 million.

The following laptop models will be available in each region:

In each region, the bidder offering the lowest price was selected. Depending on the region, it ranged from PLN 2,939.70 to PLN 2,950.77, which is within the budget assumed for the implementation of the programme. In order to obtain the most favorable purchase prices in subsequent executive contracts, the maximum purchase price will be set at the lowest level proposed in the first round, i.e. PLN 2,939.70

the ministry said in a statement.

A total of 14 entities submitted bids in the government tender, including the x-kom chain of stores, Terg, which manages Media Expert, as well as companies such as Suntar, ITpunkt and Bechtle Direct Polska.

According to the procedure, after signing the executive contracts, companies have a maximum of 40 days to deliver computers to schools, but we anticipate that in some cases this time may be shorter

– comments the Minister of Digitization Janusz Cieszyński.

  • 256GB SSD
  • 3-inch Full HD screen (220 cd/m2 brightness)
  • webcam, two USB ports (including one USB-C), digital video port

The device must also get at least 1100 points in the CrossMark benchmark. Student laptops must not weigh more than 2.5 kg and must have at least a 36-month manufacturer’s warranty.

Free laptops for fourth graders. The program is worth over PLN 1 billion

In total, for the purchase of almost 400,000 laptops for fourth graders the government will spend over PLN 1 billion this year. All fourth grade students in Poland from public and private schools will receive the equipment free of charge. However, this is not the end, because the program is to be continued in the coming years.

– The program of equipping class IV students with laptops will stay with students permanently thanks to the law, which was prepared by members of Law and Justice in consultation with the Ministry of Digitization. We need to secure the next generations so that modern equipment is an unchanging element of the Polish education system – comments Janusz Cieszyński.

As the head of the digitization ministry explains, laptops will be the property of students, or rather their parents. – They will decide to what extent children will use them, although of course our main goal is to introduce new technologies permanently to the education of children and youth – he explains.
