An Ecuadorian citizen wanted by the US justice system for drug trafficking has been arrested in the southern part of Colombia.

Carlos M. had a valid arrest warrant issued by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York for the felony drug trafficking.

Carlos Adolfo MS, known as Salad And Charlieappears as part of a list of nine under investigation (between Colombians and Ecuadorians) for a case of large-scale drug distribution from South America to the United States.

Regarding this case, Carlos Arley Salamanca, deputy police commander in Pasto, explained that the arrest of the citizen took place on August 5 at the request of the Interpol Central Command in Colombia.

This group, to which Carlos M. belonged according to US research, operated via land routes for the transfer of cocaine from laboratories in southern Colombia to locations on the Ecuadorian coast.

The shipments were made by ships, including submarines, with destinations in Central America, especially Mexico, and then to the United States.

Apparently, this person, identified as Carlos M., was involved in drug trafficking in 2016 and 2017 through laboratories located in the countryside of Cauca and Nariño departments, Salamanca said.

The person was placed under the warrant of the Office of International Affairs of the Attorney General’s Office pending extradition request to be tried in a US court.

“We will continue with our commitment to not only continue to ensure the safety of citizens in Pasto, but also to deal a powerful blow to cross-border crime,” he said.

The previous February 9, Colombian police arrested Wilder Emilio Sánchez Farfán, aka Gato Farfán or Jerry, who local authorities say was wanted in Ecuador for his illegal activities. The United States was also seeking Farfán, for extradition purposes, because of his ties to Mexican cartels.
