Infinix is a relatively new brand in Ecuador, but the products have proven to be highly appreciated by users in a short time. From a model designed for gamers to another that thinks of users more focused on multitasking and photography, this Chinese brand is entering a segment that has proven to be very competitive.

At Doctor Tecno we had the opportunity to talk to Angie Egüez, brand manager at Infinix Ecuador, and this is a little bit of what she was able to tell us.

Angie Egüez, Brand Manager of Infinix Ecuador

How did the Infinix brand enter Ecuador?

Well, as you know, we’ve been in Ecuador for two years now. We started the year before and we had our Note 12 launch. Then we brought the Hot 20s and now we’re on our Note 30 and we’ve had a lot of nationwide openings. We have grown enormously with our brand and have managed to make a lot of impact on a national level.

Now in the market, in the segment where this model is found, there is a lot of competition, let’s say, there are many brands, many Chinese brands, the traditional ones we all know, how has this entry into this very competitive market been?

Well, it was competitive, but little by little people have seen that the performance on our phone is very good, especially because the Ecuadorian public is looking for a phone that is well designed and has a lot of storage space, two things that we have been offering to our audience from the very beginning. With these two features plus a very affordable price for everyone, everything became much easier.

Let’s talk a little bit about the price. Sometimes people confuse that something is cheap with that it is cheap, how does Infinix present itself or how does it try to convince users otherwise?

Well, first of all, our Note 12 is now the same price as our Note 30. That allowed people to get that snack off our phone. That is to say, it has everything a mid-range phone needs and is in line with the competition. So this has helped us tremendously to keep moving forward.

So when the people at Infinix saw that the Ecuadorian audience was very open, we started to bring more. And that’s what we hope to have, not just a phone, but in the future the rest of the technology that Infinix sells, such as televisions, headphones, etc. So yes, we’re opening up gradually.

What type of user is this new Note 30 designed for and what features does it have that make it ideal for this market in Ecuador?

Now our Note 30 is especially for students and professionals who have just graduated. So that’s what we’re aiming for and this is perfect for them because they can do all their tasks without worrying about the phone turning off, getting discharged and things like that.

What news can we expect from Infinix in the short term?

Well, in the near term, we have a strong campaign that, with this phone, is targeting college students precisely to not only give them a phone, but also so that the kids can continue to train and study, so obviously I can’t give you specifics, but it’s specific to them. We are thinking about not only giving them a good phone, but also supporting them in their studies in some way and precisely with the help of Tesla.

One question that’s super important, especially when a brand arrives that people are a little unfamiliar with, is technical service and access to spare parts, warranty repairs, things like that.

Well, our phone, if you buy it from our authorized distributors, you can agree to file a claim, change something that does not match what was purchased. In addition, our phone is designed in China and we have done many tests to ensure that everything is perfect.

What growth projections do you have for the rest of this year? Do you have any other type of launch planned?

This year we have two or three more phones. There will be another fortress in December, which everyone has been waiting for and we haven’t brought it up until now. We have only done with the Hot, the Note and it has remained that way. But we didn’t bring the one everyone is asking for, which is the Zero, our highest range of phones.

His camera is the strongest. So yes, it has been in high demand in Ecuador since last year, so in December we hope to finally bring this phone.
