After the general elections, in which Spain gave the Partido Popular the winner, which would remain in power amid great polarization, the announcement of the repeal of the so-called Grandchildren’s Law proclaimed by Alberto Núñez Feijóo has reverberated in the surrounding area.

The Spaniards, the EFE bureau noted on Sunday evening, “left their country’s future on hold” as neither the right nor the left bloc obtained a sufficient majority to govern.

While the alliances or realignment of political forces are happening, as expected, if you want to be protected by the law and apply for Spanish citizenship through that legal instrument, don’t think twice. Complete the requirements and decide to apply before the government changes take place.

This is the program that allows you to buy a nationality in Spain quickly and practically

Get advice, seek legal help

Ideally, you will receive advice on this subject and obtain legal advice from specialists in Spanish law in order to complete the procedure satisfactorily.

The company Echeverría Abogados, for example, invites you to put yourself in the hands of experts in Spanish nationality applications.

Ideally, the professional you attend will be from a law firm or independent, but experienced, who has experience in “handling administrative, judicial and bureaucratic processes in the field of nationality”.

Documents to process Spanish nationality by law on grandchildren

According to the aforementioned law firm, the requirements are:

Children of Spanish emigrants:

1) birth certificate of the person concerned and

2) birth certificate of the father or mother issued by a Spanish civil registry (or, if born before 1870, a Spanish baptismal certificate).

Spanish emigrated grandson:

1) the same documents as in the previous case,

2) the grandparent’s birth certificate.

Adult children of Spaniards whose nationality has been recognized by option:

1) birth certificate of the person concerned and

2) birth certificate of the parent concerned stating that he has opted for the Spanish nationality of origin, or birth certificate of the person concerned stating that he is the son of a Spanish national.

Documentation to prove the reasons that led to emigration:

Here it will be useful to prove that the nationality of the host country has been acquired (to prove the loss of Spanish nationality) or to prove that it has been renounced with the corresponding documents used for this, among other documents that can prove exile.

Don’t let time pass and go for the benefits of the Grandchildren Law, opportunities – as the English writer William George Ward coined a phrase – “are like sunrises: if one waits too long, they are lost”.
