KeyToGaming: PlayStation 5 Pro Console Gets Improved GPU

The main feature of the improved PlayStation 5 will be a new graphics processor. This is reported by KeyToGaming.

Media authors have found out that Sony is working on releasing an updated PS5 console. The device will be called the PlayStation 5 Pro and will have higher performance than the original console. The console should be presented in November 2024.

A distinctive feature of the device will be a new graphics processor – probably RDNA 3.5. In comparison, the PS5 used the RDNA 2 processor, which had 18 WGP units providing up to 10.29 teraflops of graphics power. From the disclosed report on the characteristics of the console, it follows that the device will also receive “some architectural advantages.”

In addition, the authors found out that the PS5 Pro GPU will have a speed of 18 gigabits per second. For comparison, the PS5 was 14 gigabits per second. There will probably be a “performance mode” that will allow you to run games at 8K resolution.

The material also says that the PS5 Pro is being developed under the code name Trinity, while the PlayStation 4 Pro was called Neo, and the PlayStation VR is Morpheus. The authors recalled that Trinity, Neo and Morpheus are the heroes of the Matrix film series.

In May, authoritative insider Tom Henderson said that the PlayStation 5 Pro will be released at the end of 2024. In the fall of 2023, Sony will release the PlayStation 5 with a removable drive.
