The Cuban delegates unanimously gave the green light to the code It also penalizes those who do not respond to the call or harm themselves to avoid the employ, which lasts two years.
Article 41 of Chapter III of the Standard states, inter alia, that “Anyone who, with the intent to definitively escape military service, leaves the unit or place where he is performing the service, or does not appear when he ought to do so, shall be punished with a term of imprisonment of two to five years”.

The National Defense Act establishes that “all male Cuban citizens are required to perform military service in the manner and conditions” laid down in the standard itself.
