The Viaplay platform came to Poland in August 2021. The Scandinavian company managed to acquire the rights to broadcast popular sports games in a short time – including Formula 1, football Bundesliga, Premier League and Europa League.
It turns out that after only two years from the premiere, Viaplay intends to withdraw from the Polish market. We don’t yet know exactly when that will happen, but the company has announced its intention in its latest strategic plan
We will leave the following regions to refocus on the Nordic market (multi-level) and the Netherlands (sports only)
Among the countries from which the company intends to withdraw are Poland, the Baltic States, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada.

Withdrawal from the Polish market and several other countries is one of the elements of the recovery plan, which was implemented as a result of the increasingly difficult financial situation of the popular streaming platform. In the second quarter of this year Viplay revenue actually increased by 15%. to CZK 4.59 billion, but at the same time the company recorded a net loss of CZK 5.89 billion, mainly due to write-downs.
