The defendant, identified in El Nacional as Jordi, usually refused to open the door.

The police officers confirmed the stricken family’s claim: “The sound is deafening and the ‘sandwich’ is uninterrupted… it can be heard from the street.”

The neighbor, according to the outlet, “denyed playing the music loudly,” but acknowledged the multiple police visits to his home.

The sentence to which El Diario had access reads: “Between 2012 and 2017, the man played the music well above the levels set by environmental regulations, ignoring the numerous visits of the local police.”

He knew what he was doing and the judge puts it: “The persistence of his attitude suggests that the defendant was aware that his behavior could affect the mental stability of any neighbor (…)”.

The ruling “acknowledges that one of the victims’ degenerative illness worsened because of the fear caused by the noise.”
