Computer shipments have fallen again

IDC: Worldwide PC Shipments Down 13.4% in Q2 2023

Shipments of personal computers to the global market continued to decline for the sixth quarter in a row. This was reported in a report by International Data Corporation (IDC).

According to IDC experts, global supplies fell by 13.4 percent compared to the same period last year, the negative trend in the market continued. The decline was attributed to macroeconomic headwinds, weak demand from both the consumer and commercial sectors, as well as the refusal of IT companies to purchase devices.

The material said that overall weak demand for computers led to the fact that the level of inventories in the market remained above the norm for longer than expected. “The increase in stocks and components is again slowing down the market,” said Jitesh Ubrani, head of research at IDC. According to the expert’s forecast, in order to reduce the amount of inventory, PC manufacturers and retailers will arrange sales.

Lenovo and HP remained the leaders in the computer market, with shares of 23.1 and 21.8 percent, respectively. On the third line was Dell with a share of 16.8 percent. Below are Apple – 8.6 percent, Acer – 6.4 percent. The share of other market participants was 23.3 percent.

In early June, analysts at the International Data Corporation (IDC) predicted a decline in smartphone shipments to the market. According to experts, in 2023, the supply of devices will decrease by 3.2 percent to 1.17 billion units.
