WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging app for smartphones, is rolling out a new feature that allows users to link their accounts to the web version using their phone number.
To use WhatsApp on the computer, you currently need to install the application on the smartphone and go to the paired devices tab. Once that button is pressed, the phone must be directed to the PC or laptop screen to scan the QR code.
But now, WABetaInfo has discovered that after downloading the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android 2.23.14.18, available on the Google Play Store, it is possible to continue pairing this device in a different way.
The specialized portal indicates that there is a “Link with phone number” option, which would indicate that _thanks to this feature_ users can link their account to WhatsApp Web without having to scan the QR code.
Once this new option is chosen, the platform will show an interface that asks to enter an eight-character code, which must be filled in once the notification with this number is received.
For now, this functionality is only available to beta testers who download the latest WhatsApp update.
