M.Video-Eldorado: the average diagonal of smartphones bought in Russia is 6.55 inches
Russians more often preferred smartphones with a screen diagonal of 6.55 inches. This was reported in a press release from M.Video-Eldorado, received by Lenta.ru.
According to the retailer’s analysts, this figure was calculated based on the statistics of devices sold in the first half of 2023. Experts stressed that the industry standard is the production of models with a display of six inches. At the same time, five years earlier, this figure was 5.1 inches.
The company also named the most popular smartphone in the first half of the year – it turned out to be Xiaomi Redmi 9A, whose display diagonal is 6.53 inches. This is comparable to the average size of devices sold on the market. Among the phones presented in M.Video-Eldorado, the largest screen has a foldable Huawei Mate X3 – 7.85 inches, the smallest is the iPhone SE with a diagonal of 4.7 inches.
The material says that in 2019, smartphones with a diagonal of six inches in Russia accounted for only 45 percent of the devices sold. In 2023, the share of such devices exceeded 95 percent.
Earlier, representatives of M.Video-Eldorado said that most of the console games sold in Russia in the first half of 2023 came from releases for the PlayStation 4. Cyberpunk 2077 turned out to be the most popular game on the market.
