PhoneArena: RAM significantly affected iPhone performance

The size of the smartphone’s RAM can affect the performance of the device more noticeably than the processor model. This is reported by the publication PhoneArena.

The journalists of the IT portal set the task to find out why iPhones of previous generations are much slower than new devices. During the tests, experts found out that the power of the device is highly dependent on the RAM and processor – and the size of the memory is crucial.

The authors tested how long 2021 and 2022 Apple smartphones can keep apps open in memory. It turned out that the iPhone 13 with 4 gigabytes of LPDDR4X RAM and the iPhone 14 Pro, which has 6 gigabytes of LPDDR5 RAM, can keep up to 20 applications open. Then the journalists launched 30 popular applications on both devices and found out that the iPhone 14 Pro unloaded only one program, while the iPhone 13 closed 10 applications due to lack of memory.

In conclusion, the authors noted that the size of RAM is of decisive importance. According to experts, the larger the memory size and the higher the speed of the device, the longer the smartphone will be considered relevant.

Earlier, insiders found out that Apple planned to significantly increase the battery life of its smartphones. As noted by experts, the battery devices of the iPhone 15 series will increase by about 350-600 milliamp-hours.
