KRRiT is chasing the rapper for a music video from 14 years ago. It was about torture, drugs and alcohol

The National Broadcasting Council decided to impose a fine on the musician and YouTuber for “promoting alcohol and drug addiction” – wrote the punished person himself. It was about a music video from 2009, in which a bottle of whiskey and a leaflet of legal highs appeared.

Łukasz Poszwa (known on social media as Poszwixxx) was punished for his music video, which he recorded … 14 years ago. The musician and now a YouTuber complains that the National Broadcasting Council is “blackmailing him with a penalty” for “promoting alcohol and drug addiction”. Such a decision of a state authority is a novelty in Poland.

Punished for the 2009 music video. For torture, whiskey and drugs

It’s about the music video for the song “Death Wish”, which was published in 2009 and is no longer available online (you can watch the so-called ). The rapper recorded it with the Fanta band, which has long since disappeared. According to the National Broadcasting Council, the recording – although old – violates a number of regulations prohibiting the promotion of certain content. In the recording, which could be viewed on the YouTube platform, there was, among others, scene showing the “torture room”. It featured a victim with a sack over his head chained to the wall, a corpse lying on a table, and the moment one of the actors performs an “ax swing towards the neck” of the victim. KRRiT also points out that the rapper in the song compares people to “meat” and calls the torture chamber “a train with meat” – we read in the analysis quoted by the musician on Facebook.

Later in the video, there are scenes from a bar where alcohol is consumed, including the moment of pouring whiskey from a bottle with the logo of one of the producers. The video also shows “a leaflet for ‘legal highs’ lying on the table” and a person sniffing white powder, which is supposed to suggest that she is taking drugs – amphetamine or cocaine. References to drug use can also be heard in the text of the song.

There are also several other scenes in the film that can be described as at least controversial. One of the following fragments is shown “in a way that suggests murder”, another shows the victim being poured with gasoline (and a suggestion to set her on fire), and another one of the rappers points a gun at a bound person. The music video also shows “a scene where a man is buried alive” and “sexually objectifying treatment of a student by a teacher”. The National Broadcasting Council points out that there is a lot of profanity and threats throughout the recording, there are scenes of alcohol consumption, and “violence and aggression are treated as privileges”.

Therefore, the council decided to punish the rapper with a fine of 10,000. PLN, for which he has two weeks to pay. However, the musician does not hide his excitement with the decision. He calls the punishment “protection money”, the whole thing a “farce”, and the office “brazen freeloaders”. He points out that he decided to appeal against the decision of the regulator, because “the 10th wheel is not on the road”. The case will probably end up in court soon. How the National Broadcasting Council monitors radio and television stations and VOD services in search of any prohibited advertising content – primarily tobacco and high-proof alcohol. The portal writes that in 2022, the office carried out 150 inspections of television programs, 307 radio and 44 monitoring of VOD services, but no violations were found at that time.
