Inc: Apple Says They Couldn’t Build an Intel-Based MacBook Air
Apple representatives said they were unable to design a new generation of MacBook Air at a time when they were producing computers based on Intel processors. Inc. reports.
Speaking to reporters, Apple’s marketing manager Laira Metz said the company was trying to bring the 15-inch MacBook Air to market when it was working with Intel. However, the corporation failed to develop a productive device with a large screen, as Intel chips had certain limitations. According to Metz, Intel effectively prevented Apple from building and launching the model.
In this regard, a representative of the IT giant noted the superiority of the new Apple computers over the rest, emphasizing that the breakthrough became possible only after switching to their own ARM processors. “It was only with Apple Silicon that we were able to get all the necessary components to deliver the large display and the battery life and performance that users expect from a MacBook Air,” Metz concluded. Apple released the first computers based on its own processors, abandoning Intel solutions, in November 2020.
Until the 15-inch MacBook Air was released, Laura Metz said users who needed a laptop with a larger screen could only purchase a MacBook Pro. However, this did not suit many, since a more powerful computer was more expensive.
Apple announced the first MacBook Air with a 15-inch display in early June. The device based on the M2 processor was estimated at 1299 dollars, or about 116 thousand rubles.
