Bloomberg: Apple plans to release AirPods with a thermometer and a hearing test function
Apple has started working on a headset with medical features. It is reported by Bloomberg.
As it became known to the agency’s columnist Mark Gurman, the corporation intends to significantly improve one of its most popular products. The author noted that AirPods may have a hearing test option when the headphones play certain sounds, and the user will have to respond to them. According to Gurman, the hearing test function is offered by the Mimi service, with representatives of which Apple managers spoke a few years ago.
Also, the forthcoming headset may receive a built-in thermometer that will measure the user’s body temperature through the ear canal. Currently, Apple Watch Series 8 and Ultra can measure body temperature, but they collect this information only to assess the quality of women’s health. Mark Gurman suggested that the company’s engineers planned to implement this feature in the future.
According to Gurman, the described features may appear in Apple headphones over the next few years. The insider noted that this year the company should introduce an AirPods headset with a USB-C port.
Earlier, Mark Gurman said that in the coming months, Apple will release about 15 new gadgets. In particular, in the fall, the corporation will introduce four models of iPhone 15 series smartphones, as well as two versions of smart watches – Apple Watch 9 and Apple Watch Ultra of the second generation.
