The fact that Meta plans to launch an application that would rival Twitter has been rumored in the industry for some time. It’s no secret that under the rule of Elon Musk, Twitter is experiencing – to put it mildly – difficult times (just recall the recent scandal with the introduction of the tweet limit), and this creates the right atmosphere to take away some of the annoyed users from the platform. Few, however, expected Mark Zuckerberg to act so quickly. There are many indications that Instagram Threads, i.e. Twitter’s new competitor, will start on Thursday, July 6. This is the description of the application that appeared in the Apple App Store.

In addition to the description of the application, there are also a number of screenshots from the application, which present its main functionalities. Admittedly, Instagram Threads is similar to Twitter in many ways. How much? We’ll probably find out in two days.
Mark Zuckerberg creates his own Twitter. Elon Musk is furious
Mark Zuckerberg’s plans are definitely not to the taste of the current head of Twitter. Upon learning that Meta was creating a rival to Twitter, “the ground would only be under Zuck’s thumb, with no other options.” When one Twitter user suggested to Musk to be more careful because Mark Zuckerberg “knows ju jitsu”, Musk replied: “I’m ready for a cage fight if he agrees.” To everyone’s surprise, the creator of Facebook accepted an unusual challenge. “Send me the location,” he wrote on Instagram. Elon Musk decided to lead this “game” further and in one of the following entries he proposed a place. The fight would take place in the famous UFC octagon in Las Vegas. Although it is still not known whether the duel will finally take place, the very idea has already heated the internet red.
Twitter problems. The platform had to introduce limits
. Many people reported a message that informed about exceeding the limit of queries on the site. It turned out that it was not a malfunction of the portal. Elon Musk said changes were made to respond to “extreme levels” of Twitter data collection and system manipulation. Therefore, content display limits on the website have been temporarily introduced. Initially, it was 6,000. posts for people with a paid verified account, 600 for users with an unverified profile and 300 for new users without a verified profile.
Musk quickly announced the increase in limits. First, to 8,000, 800 and 400 posts, respectively, and a few hours later to 10,000, 1,000 and 1,000. and 500 posts per day that can be viewed by different users of the portal. In turn, at the end of June, restrictions were introduced for unregistered people who can no longer view any Twitter posts.
Elon Musk took over Twitter in October 2022. In this short time, the billionaire managed to trigger several smaller and larger scandals related to the platform. He started his rule in the company by laying off half of the employees. He then introduced a new way to verify accounts, which sparked a tsunami of fake news on the platform.
