This Saturday, the Russian military command announced that they had successfully repelled attacks from the Ukrainian front, noting that it had suffered up to 600 casualties in the past 24 hours.
That’s what Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov said in his daily report on the situation on the battlefields.
According to Konashenkov, Ukrainian forces carried out 15 attacks in the past day on the Donetsk front, including the Bakhmut area, which were repelled by Russian forces.
In these actions, he added, Ukrainian forces suffered more than 265 casualties and lost one tank, two infantry tanks, eight cars, two Msta-B howitzers and one D-20 gun howitzer.
The military spokesman pointed out that Russian forces on the Zaporizhia front repelled attacks near the towns of Piatijatki and Luhivske, with the Ukrainians losing up to 140 troops, three armored vehicles, three howitzers and seven cars.
This was announced a day after Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky ordered the security of the Belarusian border to be strengthened following the arrival of the Wagner paramilitary group that rioted in Russia a week ago.
“By decision of the General Staff, Commander-in-Chief (Valeri) Zaluzhni and General (Serguii) Nayev have been ordered to strengthen the northern border to ensure peace,” Zelensky said in a video broadcast on Telegram.
The Ukrainian president explained that on Friday he was informed about the situation in Belarus by Ukrainian and foreign intelligence services and by the border guard.
