Unbelievable: A 21-year-old boy was expelled from a gym for ‘looking at a woman’ who was working out. Until then, the reason for the harsh measure could be understood, except for one major detail: the young man is blind.

What happened happened to Toby Addison, a young footballer from the United Kingdom, who announced his case last week.

Adisson, TN reported, made his story public in a chapter of “Happy Hour Podcast.”

what happened at the gym

Do you like what you see? That was the question, asked in a supposedly exasperated tone by the woman who was offended by Toby Addison’s “look.”

The young man said the question unnerved him. I didn’t understand what happened.

Why do you keep looking at me? Stop, don’t be so scary, the same person questioned him.

“Of course I don’t really know what I watch most of the time,” the Briton explained on the podcast.

“I just ‘looked’ ahead and unfortunately there was a woman training outside the door,” he said.

He said that the woman did not want an explanation and did not believe him when he told him that he was blind.

“I explained that I was blind and I showed him the walking stick that I use to move. She was still upset, though,” Addison said.

“Be quiet”, she answered him and went away for a few minutes. Toby Addison said that “she went looking for the supervisor, who asked her to leave the gym.”

Reactions in networks

Addison’s story went viral. While the situation is still funny to some, it’s more people expressing their rejection of the girl’s attitude and the gym itself.

“Deserves at least an apology,” network users ask.

“Because you’re a woman, you can’t despise a person with a disability,” said Katherine González.

For Eric Rodríguez, who said he was blind and an athlete, “people’s ignorance is extremely deplorable.” He said that in Chile we “never had a problem in the gym, on the contrary, a lot of support and encouragement from people when they see us training.”

Addison showed her more human side by putting herself in the shoes of those who felt uncomfortable: “It’s very sad that some women feel anxious when they’re in the gym because of a small percentage of people who have behaved inappropriately”.

While Milena Cortés stated, “And they don’t drive out the real spectators.”
