Hundreds of millions of people will have to learn how to work with AI. “This is terrible”

– Don’t get crazy. Because it is neither as difficult nor as terrifying, nor is it certainly as dangerous as it is shown – said Maria Parysz about the ongoing AI revolution. In an interview with Gazeta.pl, the scientist and entrepreneur emphasized that it is already necessary to train to use algorithms and data. In her opinion, it is difficult to imagine a future without artificial intelligence and this applies to every position.

500 developers (and at least two dogs) took part in the Hack to the Rescue, aka marathon, on June 14 and 15. Objective? Create tools using artificial intelligence that NGOs can use to make the world a better place. However, AI is a powerful tool that should be handled with extreme caution. During Hack to the Rescue, the speakers were artificial intelligence practitioners who have been working with AI for a long time and who directed the participants of the event to good practices of cooperation with algorithms.

Gazeta.pl also had a chance to talk to experts who talked about how all employees, not only programmers, can prepare for the ongoing technological revolution.

Don’t get crazy. Because it’s not as difficult, nor is it as scary, and it’s certainly not as dangerous as it is made out to be. It may be, in the hands of uneducated people. Therefore, I believe that education is the absolute basis here, which should be available to everyone

– said Maria Parysz, a scientist and entrepreneur from Elephant AI. We invite you to watch the interview:

A future without AI is hard to imagine

During her speech, Maria Parysz emphasized that technology is developing faster than we are, and 200 new AI-based tools appear every week. She added that as a result, as many as two generations of people are threatened by changes in the labor market.

We have two generations of professionally active people between 25 and 67 years of age. and all of them will be required to know the data. This is terrible, because there is no way on a global scale how to make millions of people change their mindset from analog to data and artificial intelligence in a short time

the scientist said.

According to Maria Parysz, employees are not able to cope with the changes alone, and research shows that anxiety about AI is growing quarter by quarter. However, she explained that the generative world is open to everyone, although it is “terribly” difficult to enter without help and training. In an interview with Gazeta.pl, the expert presented some advice for people who want to start their adventure with AI:

I would like it to be done at the state level and for artificial intelligence to enter school curricula. Such programs are already abroad and can be implemented

Maria Parysz told us. She added that employees should be supported in switching to the world of artificial intelligence. Such a transformation will affect 500 million people, she also indicated and emphasized:

It is hard to imagine a future without artificial intelligence in any job.

Artificial intelligence, after all, is an opportunity

However, Maria Parysz believes that artificial intelligence has already done a lot of good and, despite the potential threats, she is optimistic about the future. So he doesn’t think Elon Musk or Sam Altman (president of OpenAI, the company that created ) is a good direction to scare AI.

– We scientists, who know what artificial intelligence can really do, say: relax, it’s just technology, you just need to learn it. (…) Instead of saying out loud that artificial intelligence will destroy the human species and take us away (…) suggest what you want to do about it. Give mass education for free, give people the opportunity to learn it quickly but practically, give them access to these tools. And not just scare – convinced our interlocutor.

As she further explained, regulations may limit the artificial intelligence market. According to the scientist, it is not clear on what basis licenses for AI should be granted, which raises questions about whether it will be an open market? Maria Parysz also admitted that she is a supporter of the liberalization of the artificial intelligence market, but with a “large ethical aspect”.
