SamMobile: satellite communication will appear on Samsung Galaxy S23 series smartphones
Samsung will roll out satellite connectivity to its devices in 2023. This is reported by SamMobile.
Journalists cited an insider report that the Korean company will launch support for satellite communications on smartphones in 2023. Apparently, this technology will be supported by devices of the flagship Galaxy S23 series, which are scheduled for release in early 2023.
The specialist could not accurately answer whether Samsung will develop its own standard or will use Google technologies. Earlier, the American corporation said that support for satellite emergency communications will appear on phones based on Android 14 in 2023. It’s also hard to tell if satellite communications will work on previous generation Samsung devices.
“Perhaps the company does not want to be too far behind Huawei and Apple and will try to develop its own hardware and software solution before Google,” the journalists summed up.
Earlier it became known that Apple planned to expand the number of countries in which the satellite communication function on the iPhone 14 will work. The launch of the option is expected in November, at the first stage residents of the United States and Canada will be able to use it for free.
