the tech giant Google this Wednesday launched a virtual clothing fitting room with artificial intelligence (AI) in its search engine in the United States that allows you to see what a women’s garment looks like for the time being It only works with t-shirts, shirts and sweaters – on 40 women’s body types ranging from size XXS to 4XL.

When a user searches the company’s search engine for an item of clothing from a specific store – such as Anthropologie, Everlane, H&M and LOFT, among others – Google now gives the option: “Try On”, in which you can see the selected item of clothing on the various body types.

His generative model of AI it is able to display the selected clothes in the different models, accurately reproducing the drape, folds, wrinkles and shadows of the garment.

The models, all real women, as long as they can model the clothes without trying them on. For now, these 40 women only show the clothes in a frontal pose, but the company will expand the number of poses in the future.

Users can also save the model that most represents them in their browser for future purchases.

For now, this option is only available for female models, but “later this year” this option will also be available for men, who can also choose from 40 body types.

The company reports this in a statement today “although clothing is one of the most searched shopping categories” users are not always happy with their purchase – 42% of online shoppers feel unrepresented by images of models and 59% are dissatisfied with an item you bought online because it is different fits than expected- and that they want to improve these statistics with this new tool.
