MyDrivers: Huawei may sue Apple because of the name of the Vision Pro headset
The American company Apple may face legal difficulties in China after the release of the Vision Pro headset in the global market. This is reported by the Chinese edition of MyDrivers.
Media journalists noticed that the Vision Pro trademark, which corresponds to the name of the first Apple augmented reality helmet, belongs to Huawei Corporation in China. The local company registered the brand on November 28, 2021, the IT giant has exclusive rights to use it in the region until November 27, 2031.
The specialists of the publication specified that under this brand Huawei launches smart TVs and smart glasses on the market. Journalists suggested that the Chinese corporation could sue Apple for using a registered trademark. Also, Tim Cook’s company will most likely have to negotiate with Huawei’s lawyers in order to avoid litigation.
According to reporters, Apple has already faced a situation where it had to buy a trademark in China. So, in 2012, the corporation paid $60 million to Proview Technology for the rights to the iPad brand. It is specified that Apple tried to get the rights for free, but lost to Proview Technology in court.
Earlier, Appleinsider journalists said that the interest of a young audience would be the main driver of sales of Apple’s first mixed reality headset. According to the authors, 45 percent of the audience of young users have at least three devices of the American brand.
