Seeing her cat struggling to breathe, a woman sought professional help. But not only that…he didn’t hesitate to pay whatever they raised to give his pet “hope for life”.

Kelly Boyle calls herself the concerned “cat lover” and lives in Scotland. The cat’s case went viral due to the amount of money he says he used to meet the needs of treatment. When he does the math, he thinks he spent about $30,000.

The woman brought Rascal, the kitten, to her home nine years ago. In 2018, he noticed coughing fits that were difficult to calm down.

He thought, Semana reported, that the coughing fits were due to “a hairball.” However, these increased and became “up to six times a day”.

He went to the vet and they underwent several tests, including blood tests, the outlet explained.

The results revealed that “Rascal” suffered from feline asthma.

Asthma, which is so common in humans, also attacks cats. Katasthma, according to Tu Can Centro Veterinario, “is caused by inflammation of the lower airways (bronchi) or lungs.”

It is – he continues – “a chronic pathology that in most cases arises as a result of inhaling some irritating substance such as pollen, tobacco, dust, cleaning agents or mold”.

Kelly, the cat’s owner, was surprised by the diagnosis. He said he didn’t know the disease could be detected in pets like his.

I had never heard of feline asthma and the vet told me she was having trouble breathing due to inflammation in her lungs.

Treating Rascal’s asthma went as well as what they recommend to people: “The only treatment option was an inhaler,” Kelly said.

But how to use it on the cat…would it be allowed? With patience – and frightened by “the panic that the diagnosis caused him” – he did it and Rascal, as published by Semana, today uses three inhalers and this is how the owner described them.

“Orange in the morning, purple in the evening, and a blue one for sudden flare-ups, which you’ll need for the rest of your life,” she explained when talking about the variety you can use to keep asthma episodes at bay.

For The Mirror, Semana said, the woman spoke about the cost of the disease. He said they piled up “but it’s all been worth it.”

In networks, Adler Sh commented: “I understand the truth, my cat also has asthma and I had to save money for a month to leave premium food, dust-free litter, medicines, perfumes, everything in aerosols. I love her”.

Kelly is more optimistic that she was able to give her pet “hope for life.”
