Counterpoint: Smartwatch shipments down 1.5 percent due to global crisis
Analysts from Counterpoint Research estimated the global smartwatch market in the first quarter of the year. The report is published on the agency’s website.
According to experts, compared to the first quarter of 2022, shipments of smartwatches fell by 1.5 percent. The material says that the market has stopped growing due to the global economic crisis and the decline in production of the main players in this segment.
Apple remained the market leader in smartwatches, whose share fell from 32 to 26 percent in a year. Samsung has ceased to be the only second global manufacturer – the corporation’s share has decreased from 10 to 9 percent. At the moment, the company shares the second position in terms of popularity with the Indian brand Fire-Boltt.
“The global smartwatch market, which has been growing rapidly for several years, has entered a period of stagnation since the end of last year, when it was down 8 percent year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2022,” said Counterpoint researcher Woojin Son.
At the end of April, Kommersant sources found out that in Russia in the first quarter of 2023, the demand for keyboards, headphones, mice and other computer accessories increased. During this period, 1.4 million keyboards were sold, up 19 percent year-on-year.
