The topic of the threat that comes from the very dynamic development of artificial intelligence has not been silent for weeks. There is also a lot of talk about the need to regulate AI.
Mateusz Morawiecki on AI: It’s a double-edged sword
Now Mateusz Morawiecki has spoken about artificial intelligence. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland explained on Polskie Radio 24 that artificial intelligence can have its good applications, but it can also be used for the wrong purposes. He also compared AI to a knife. – Artificial intelligence is both a huge opportunity and a huge threat. You can cut bread with a knife and you can slit someone’s throat. Unfortunately, this is a double-edged sword that you need to know how to use from the regulatory side, Morawiecki said. The Prime Minister also recalled that he recently met with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI (the organization behind ChatemGPT), who visited Poland this week. He added that they discussed the possibility of regulating this technology. “We talked about regulations for most of this meeting. About such regulation of applications using artificial intelligence and using artificial intelligence so as not to cause harm – he said on the radio.
During his stay on the Vistula, Altman himself also compared the technology to atomic energy, which was used not only to produce energy, but also to produce nuclear bombs. The CEO of OpenAI added that the founders of the company talk about artificial intelligence with leaders from around the world, and the visit to Poland is one of many meetings held around the world to listen to people, their thoughts and concerns raised by ChatGPT. Shortly before meeting Mateusz Morawiecki, Altman took part in a panel discussion organized at the University of Warsaw.
