In USAthe month of June is considered the proud monthand is dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQ+ community. Many brands, stores and other companies are embodying this idea in their products by using symbolism such as rainbow flags or messages of support.

Target, one of the most influential supermarket chains in the North American country, announced that it was forced to do so remove the products from your “PRIDE” collection because of threats.

“Since the presentation of the products this year, We have experienced threats that have affected the sense of security and well-being of our team members while they worked,” the company said.

The statement indicated that after “these unstable conditions”, they will withdraw the products that have caused the most controversy, without giving more details about the type of goods it refers to.

“Now we are focused on continuing our ongoing commitment to the LGTBQ+ community and guiding it through Pride Month celebrations and throughout the year,” they reiterated.

Target and other stores, including Walmart and H&M, have expanded their display of LGBTQ+ products for about a decade to celebrate Pride Month.

However, these companies have also been criticized for using the memorial date as a marketing strategy. This has sparked a cultural debate in the United States, from comments on social networks to physical demonstrations in stores.
