TASS: the 2GIS mapping service has become unavailable in the Google Play store for Android
The application of the Russian mapping service 2GIS has become unavailable in the Android app store Google Play. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the company.
It is noted that applications previously installed by users continue to work, the data will be updated daily, as before, any cities are available in them. However, you won’t be able to download 2GIS on Google Play right now.
It is clarified that the version of 2GIS for Android can still be downloaded from the 2GIS website and other app stores such as Huawei App Gallery, Samsung Galaxy Store, Xiaomi Getapps, NashStore, RuMarket and RuStore.
In September 2022, the map service app was removed from the Apple AppStore. Already installed applications continued to work on iOS devices. However, the service returned to the AppStore on April 22.
Previously, a way to bypass Google restrictions in smartphones for Russia was named. Manufacturers of smartphones supplied to the Russian Federation are increasingly using the MicroG project.
