An arranged marriage, or for the sake of convenience, lasted less than two hours in India. The families of the spouses and guests went from the excitement and joy of the celebration to an unexpected despair when they found out what had happened to the newlyweds.

Loving someone should be a free decision; never an obligation; but in some countries the latter is maintained, in many cases even beyond the woman’s age.

The case we will talk about is surprising and it happened in India.

The couple had been in a relationship for seven years. On the day of the wedding, without anyone noticing, the man made a strong decision: he consumed poison to end his days.

After taking the deadly product, he told the girlfriend what he had done. What happened in a few minutes was also unexpected: the girl took poison.

The 21-year-old groom died during the wedding, reports the Spanish news agency EFE. He later pointed out that the subject had indeed been pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. His organism did not withstand the effects of the poison.

The young woman, a year younger than the man, received help and was also taken to a care home, where she was admitted to intensive care.

The shocking events took place in Kanadia, in the city of Indore, located in central India.

According to records collected by the police, the couple had quarreled before the ceremony at an Arya Samaj temple, India Today News reports.

Last Thursday, May 18, 2023, the Spanish agency quoted the deputy police inspector, Manoj Hirbe, who gave important information in this fateful event: “The young woman pressured the boy to get married, but he did not want to.”

forced marriage

According to Hirbe, the couple reached an agreement and both were ready to get married on May 16.

But before he had asked for time, apparently for study reasons, he wanted to postpone the arrival at the altar, but his request was not granted. He talked about waiting about two years to take such an important step.

His relatives, police said, pointed to the woman for “pressuring him.”

When he asked for a two-year term to marry for reasons of his career, the woman filed a police complaint against him.
