The Chinese want to build a hellishly fast train. It is to break the magic barrier of 1000 km/h

China wants to build the world’s fastest train. Or at least, such are the plans of the executors of the train project, which is to be the first to travel at a speed of over 1000 km/h.

According to Chinese , in the city of Harbin in north-eastern China, the first – for the time being test – section of the railway capable of reaching unimaginable speeds will be built. While the currently fastest trains are able to accelerate to just over 600 km / h (during tests), the new Chinese project assumes a speed of 1000 km / h.

The fastest railway in the world is to be built in China

The train hasn’t even been named yet, and relatively little is known about the project. “Global Times” describes that the main contractors for the experimental train project are the Beijing-based technology company World Artery and Harbin Industrial Investment Group Co. Both corporations signed the relevant documents last week, thus opening cooperation on the project. At the moment, it is already known that it will not be an ordinary train, but the so-called. magnev, i.e. a vehicle moving on a magnetic cushion just above the track. According to the president of World Artery, the construction of the first line will be a great technological breakthrough in this field. The train is supposed to move in a tube with reduced air pressure (to reduce the resistance acting on the vehicle). So it will be something like the Hyperloop project promoted some time ago by Elon Musk.

The Chinese want to have the fastest train in the world. They aim at 1000 km/h

As the newspaper describes, the Chinese train is to be groundbreaking, because it will not only break the magic barrier of 1000 km / h, but will also be able to move at such a speed with passengers on board. The vehicle is expected to achieve this speed with relatively low operating costs and a high level of safety. And the latter will be one of the main challenges accompanying the construction. As an expert from Shanghai Tongji University explains in an interview with the newspaper, not all passengers will be able to tolerate the strong acceleration necessary to achieve the promised speed. The first line to be built in the city of Harbin will be experimental. So far, it has not been revealed how long it will be and when it will start. It is known that its side purpose is to stimulate local tourism.
