On Saturday night, the Prosecutor’s Office of Sonora in northwestern Mexico announced the release of 113 migrants of different nationalities who had been kidnapped in a building.
Through a statement, the entity explained that the release took place in San Luis Río Colorado and five men in charge of its detention were arrested. Hours earlier, the release of 10 Colombian migrants had been announced.
The Prosecutor’s Office explained that among those released are citizens of El Salvador, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, the United States, India, Peru, Nepal, Bangladesh, Cuba, Colombia, Brazil and Afghanistan.
The detainees were between 20 and 49 years old.
According to the prosecution’s account, the police forces that carried out the rescue were received “with applause, blessings and prayers” by the group of foreigners held in the house.
Last month in the same region, a group of 63 citizens from Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Mexico were abducted while trying to reach the US border. All were rescued alive.
