It looks like an extremely expensive toy car, but it is the cheapest car in the world. It’s the Chinese model. ChangLi S1-Pro, an all-electric vehicle that seats just three passengers, including the driver, and costs $1,000.
ChangLi, the car manufacturer, offers its flagship model on the online shopping platform alibaba for $1,131. When purchasing multiple units, the price drops.
But, What makes this car so cheap and popular?
Although the S1-Pro has most of the features of a regular car, the driver may not drive faster than 40 kilometers per hour. It is only designed to be transported over short distances, because with a single charge of the battery it has a range of max 50 kilometers.
According to the specifications, it is 2.5 meters long, 1.5 meters wide, 1.8 meters high and weighs 323 kilograms.
Inside, the S1-Pro isn’t luxurious at all. It has room for only three people and the steering wheel.
In China, this car works as a taxi, as it is convenient to travel through cities with destinations nearby.
