ZDNet: Apple will capitalize on the transition to USB-C by releasing adapters
Apple could make a lot of money ditching the proprietary Lightning connector. It is reported by the publication ZDNet.
Journalists predicted the imminent appearance of a universal USB-C port in Apple devices. The authors recalled that in June, a committee of the European Parliament decided that gadget manufacturers should equip new USB-C devices available in Europe by autumn 2024. In this regard, experts predicted that the American company will gradually introduce the new port into its devices.
According to the authors, the refusal of Lightning threatens Apple with the loss of additional income from manufacturers of original accessories. However, the company can release a huge number of adapters compatible with USB-C and the brand’s equipment on the market. “We all know how much Apple loves adapters,” said journalist Adrian Kingsley-Hughes.
The author suggested that Apple gadget users will need adapters to connect new USB-C devices with other accessories. “Apple will be ready by the time we move to USB-C and are using it to sell even more accessories,” Kingsley-Hughes concluded.
Earlier it became known that the iPad will be the first new Apple device with a USB-C connector. The announcement of the base tablet of the 10th generation may take place in the fall.
