Microsoft opens large data centers in Poland. A billion dollar investment

Microsoft opened the data processing region announced two years ago. The investment, worth about a billion dollars, is, according to the company, the most modern place of this type and, at the same time, the first such region in our part of Europe.

According to Microsoft, the investment currently being opened in Poland is the most modern and at the same time the first cloud computing region in Central and Eastern Europe. The project consists of buildings in three different locations around Warsaw. Mateusz Morawiecki also announced the opening of an IT center of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority in Silesia.

Microsoft opens a gigantic investment near Warsaw

In each of the three locations that make up the region, there is at least one data center stored in the cloud. Each is equipped with independent power supply, cooling and connection to the network. According to Microsoft, this investment is a response to the growing demand for access to high computing power. The construction of the region is also intended to help the company provide access to a rich portfolio of cloud services. The cloud region, which was created near Warsaw, is also intended to allow companies to meet the EU requirements on the protection of personal data (GDPR), storing the most valuable digital resources in Poland.

“The launch of the Microsoft region is a continuation of over 30 years of the company’s commitment to Poland and a commitment to further support the technological development of society, business and economy” – Microsoft. “Poland is a magnet for American investments, not only large industrial ones, but also huge investments in the IT industry, which is becoming another great competence and a place of work for many talents not only from Poland” – said Mateusz Morawiecki during the European Congress Economic in Katowice, quoted by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

During the congress, Mateusz Morawiecki also met with Ralph Haupter, head of Microsoft for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The gentlemen discussed primarily issues related to the aforementioned investment and future initiatives in Poland, the Prime Minister’s office reported. Morawiecki also said that the opening of the center is great news also for Polish engineers and programmers, who will be able to work for the American giant without leaving the country.

Mateusz Morawiecki also announced that an IT center of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority will be located in Katowice. – We want central institutions to locate part of their activities in other centers and here in Katowice the IT center, part of data processing and the construction of KNF databases will be located. This is another very good news for Silesia – said the Prime Minister.
