What happened to the child in Tocorón Prison
That day, Karelys Arcila was visiting “his new partner” with the child, who had been sent to Tocorón for the crime of aggravated robbery.
The woman went out to buy something; When she returned, she noticed that her son had an eye injury and that he was not moving.
He transferred him to an outpatient clinic in the city of San Francisco de Asís and, according to the MP, the child was admitted without vital signs. The NGO Una Ventana a la Libertad denounced the incident in January 2023.
When they reported what had happened, they identified the child’s violent attacker as Humberto Raphael Sosa Vargas32 years old.
It would be the child’s birthday and his mother planned to celebrate in the social room of the prison.

“While shopping (soft drinks and sweets), the woman left the child with Sosa Vargas. Witnesses say that when Arcila Montilla returned, she found her bloodied son, fainting and with low breathing,” the NGO said.
When the prison population learned about the baby’s death, they took the law into their own hands and minutes later Sosa Vargas was killed, they expanded.
The same NGO reports on Monday, May 1 that “Sosa Vargas was imprisoned for six months on charges of sexually abusing minors.” It deviates from the crime reported by the Member of Parliament.

The punishment for the mother
Karelis Arcilla was arrested for the embarrassing case, the aforementioned NGO reported on Jan. 5, 2023.
For his part, the Venezuelan MP pointed out in late April that the little boy died of a hemorrhage resulting from head trauma.
The woman tried to hide the fact and changed the story on several occasions, but she relented when she found out that her son had also been abused before she received the blow that killed him.

At the beginning of the trial, “representatives of the 16th Prosecutor’s Office of that jurisdiction upheld the charge against the woman for the offense of aggravated willful homicide, provided for in the Penal Code.”
The 4th Trial Court of the State of Aragua handed down a sentence of 19 years and 8 months to Arcila Montilla.
