Samsung has returned to the first place in smartphone sales in Russia. This was reported by Kommersant.
As follows from the MTS report for October, which the journalists got acquainted with, Samsung regained the first place in piece terms. The manufacturer’s market share was 34.5 percent, followed by Xiaomi, which, together with the Poco sub-brand, received 28.1 percent. Samsung confirmed this information, Xiaomi did not respond to the request.
Svyaznoy also named Samsung the most popular smartphone brand in October. According to the company, the Korean corporation accounts for 33 percent of the market in piece sales, while Xiaomi, which lost the lead, has 22 percent. Samsung’s share in Citylink was estimated at 34.5 percent. MTS also noted that Apple and Realme were in third and fourth places in sales with a share of 14.7 and 7.4 percent, respectively.
The interlocutors of Kommersant said that in piece terms, compared to the same period in 2020, the market did not grow. According to a report by M.Video-Eldorado, 2.8 million smartphones worth 67 billion rubles were sold in October, while Svyaznoy sold 2.7 million devices worth 67 billion rubles. “The Russian smartphone market in October showed practically no growth in the number of units sold,” Citylink reported.
In late summer, analysts from the International Data Corporation (IDC) reported that Xiaomi had taken a leading position in the smartphone market in Russia. Samsung is in second place, and Apple is in third.
