Russian authorities announced last Thursday that an explosion had occurred in the town of Belgorod, on the border with Ukraine.

“There was an explosion. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties. A huge crater with a diameter of 20 meters formed at the intersection of the central streets,” Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the Belgorod region, told Telegram, without further details to the cause of the incident.

“Windows of a nearby residential building were damaged, the explosion damaged several parked cars and knocked down power poles,” it added.

The bombing was carried out by a Russian Sukhoi-34 fighter jet, which left behind a 20-metre-high crater. A video shows the passing of vehicles and the impact of the bomb, which initially failed to explode.

Vehicles continue to move on the road, but after a few seconds, the explosion is seen lifting both a car and the sidewalk.

The Russian Defense Ministry admitted the fact, saying the fighter-bomber accidentally fired air munitions.
