Insider: Samsung will rename the folding smartphone Galaxy Z Fold 4 because of the letter Z in the name
Samsung will rename new smartphones, abandoning the letter Z in the names. This is reported by TechRadar.
Media journalists referred to report SnoopyTech insider who confirmed that Samsung’s new foldable smartphones will come out without the letter Z in the name. Earlier, sources reported that on August 10, the Korean company will announce the Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 and Galaxy Flip 4 devices.
The authors of the portal explained that the letter Z is used by Russian troops to denote military equipment. According to experts, the company does not want its products to be somehow associated with the situation in Ukraine.
Journalists also noted that the rejection of the letter Z has its advantages and disadvantages. So, in the designations of smartphones of the popular Galaxy Note line, there were no additional letters: “There was no reason that they were needed.” On the contrary, consumers are accustomed to the fact that Samsung labels its smartphone lines with various symbols: Z for foldable devices, S for flagships, A for budget devices. “You immediately understand that everything that has the letter Z in the name is collapsible,” the authors concluded.
At the end of March, Samsung renamed its current foldable smartphones, abandoning the letter Z in the name. The corresponding symbol was removed from the names of the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 devices in the Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian markets.
