It is electrical, Spanish and works through algorithms that allow it to move without anyone behind it pushing it. This is how this autonomous wheelchair prototype works, detecting any obstacle it approaches thanks to programming with algorithms carried out by QuixMind, the company behind the invention.
It is controlled thanks to artificial intelligence algorithm and, through a laser sensors, the map of the entire area is created. “It is a wheelchair that we have made autonomous”, highlights the CEO of the company, Tomas Martinez Marin.
Its operation is simple and can be guided by mobile. “It has an app that connects with the chairit can be used both on mobile phones and tablets and the trajectory that you want to make is sent to it,” says programmer Ignacio Blasco Muñoz, behind the program’s architecture.
They started with a golf cart and various industrial machinery, forklifts and stackers. Starting in September, it can be marketed, with a focus on people with disabilities or the elderly. They warn that their technology can automate any type of vehicle. In a few months we will see her in hospitals, residences and airports.
