The crime against DJ Valentina Trespalacios was one of the things that most outraged Colombia. The alleged killer is said to be his partner, John Poulos. The 39th Criminal Court of the Bogota Circuit, for the defense of Poulos, the suspect’s arrest was confirmed.
Poulos’ lawyer had argued that there were irregularities in detention and deportation of his client, for which reason he appealed against the legalization of the imprisonment. The judge rejected that the time he was detained in Panama and the time when the National Police officers arrested him, no unworthy treatment of the accused was demonstrated.
Trespalacios’ body was found in a garbage container in the city of Fontibón, in western Bogotá. The American was arrested at the Tacumen airport in Panama on the afternoon of January 24, two days after the young woman’s murder, while waiting for a flight to Turkey, apparently to flee from Colombian authorities.
The Colombian Attorney General’s Office intends to prove that the man is of nationality American is solely responsible for Trespalacios’ death. That is why the entity has requested a 50-year prison sentence for Poulos.
“Poulos began violently beating Miss Valentina Trespalacios’ body with his fists and then applied pressure with his hands around her neck until he caused her death,” refers to the document.
The report describes the jealous behavior that Poulos exerted on the woman, which he allegedly led to to act this way, until the demise of the DJ. There are more than 30 pieces of evidence that the prosecution has that will be revealed in the trial of this man.
