Russian President Vladimir Putin passed a law that will allow the creation of a new system that will speed up civilian appeal amid the conflict he is holding with Ukraine.
The new standard will facilitate the reporting of mobilization to reservists by creating a digital system, unlike the current regime which required reports to be delivered personally to those involved.
The text allows the mobilization of reservists only by publishing the order on the public services portal and even by notifying a third party. The standard has already been approved by the House of Representatives.
Under the new law, any mobilized Russian “will be considered unruly,” a crime punishable by imprisonment, if he “refuses to receive his call or is unreachable.”
Putin ordered the mobilization of 300,000 reservists to fight in Ukraine in September, but the process was slow and often chaotic.
The government denies preparing another such mobilization, but many fear it will happen when the Ukrainian army prepares a counter-offensive.
