In 1948, a meeting was held in Colombia between twenty-one countries, where agreements were made to strengthen the peace and security of the American continentas well as to work together to consolidate the democracy of the peoples and non-intervention in the internal affairs of each nation.

This day is celebrated every year in both big cities and small towns; even some countries, such as Honduras, Guatemala and Haiti, have made America’s Day coincide with their national holiday. Conferences, courses and other activities are held in some places.
