Outrage has erupted over the case involving an Ecuadorian national in Spain. It involves mistreating a baby for which he is prosecuted and can receive a prison sentence of up to 12 years.

The portal Herald of Aragon He announced that in May 2022, the Ecuadorian beat him and shook the four-month-old baby because he would not let him sleep, causing neurological consequences that manifested immediately.

Blindness of the right eye and extensive loss of the left eye, as well as a psychomotor and maturational delay are the disorders that the minor has, according to what was described by the media.

With punches and kicks, a mother prevented a bulldog from destroying her daughter’s face

The events took place in the city of Zaragoza, Gabriel C. had started as a bread delivery driver between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m., he had only been in office for four days. When she was not working, she took care of her then partner’s son who was 9 years old and the baby they had produced. The woman worked the night shift from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and also had help from her mother when the children were left alone for nearly two hours.

It was explained that the baby started crying on the night of May 20 and the man wrote to his partner around 2am complaining that the child wouldn’t stop crying and he didn’t know what to do. The woman replied that she should rock him or give him a bottle, among other things, and also told him to be patient.

The man said he had to rest to go to work so he couldn’t do those things. Around 4:30 a.m. he was already going to work and that the child had been bothering him until the last moment and that he had fallen asleep five minutes before the grandmother arrived.

The grandmother told police she found the frightened baby in a hammock with a lost look and a towel soaked in water for support. The baby’s brother told the lady that he had heard a scream in which he told the baby to “shut up”.

When the mother arrived, she saw that he had several signs and his gaze was not focused, so she took him to the hospital. The man told her not to do it because they would sue them both because, by law, nursing women couldn’t leave babies alone.

The doctors, upon verifying the child’s condition, told him that he had caused injuries such as “shaken infant syndrome.” He is currently described as having 81% disability and a degree of severe dependence, for which he is receiving care.

The Ecuadorian had been arrested himself, he said, and confessed to punching him in the face and grabbing him by one of the arms to shake him violently. A judge released him, but without the possibility to approach the minor.

He is currently charged with serious injuries and was summoned by a judge last Tuesday, but he accepted the right to remain silent and so did not answer questions.
