Allegro asked you to update your data? Watch out for such messages. This is a new scam

Cybercriminals have launched a phishing campaign targeting buyers and sellers on Allegro. Impersonating the platform, they ask Internet users to “update” personal data and “activate security” with a card number.

Cybercriminals definitely woke up after the Christmas break and started another, massive attacks on Polish Internet users. Now they target customers of the Allegro shopping platform who inadvertently click on the link and provide their personal data and payment card numbers.

Allegro does not want to confirm the card number. They are crooks

CERT Orange Polska warns against fraud. According to specialists, Poles receive e-mails from scammers stylized as messages from Allegro. We find on them a counterfeit logo of the platform and information about the alleged “update of Allegro account security”, which is supposed to require “C2A security activation”. How to perform the supposed activation proposed by scammers? Of course, by “logging in” to your account, entering your details, and then entering your “payment details”.

The e-mail messages have been prepared in a rather careful way, but the link provided in them should arouse suspicion (hidden under the “update my data” button). After clicking the link, the victim is redirected to a crafted page on a highly suspicious domain. We should not open it, and especially not provide any data there. The goal of scammers is to steal account details and funds from a payment card. If we have doubts whether “all deposits and withdrawals have been temporarily suspended”, we should contact Allegro ourselves.

The attack using Allegro’s image is one of many scams in recent days. CERT Orange Polska reported that criminals impersonate Netflix, trying to convince that the platform rejects subscription payments. Earlier, scammers sent SMS messages to Poles with the question: “Is that you in this video” and a link to a suspicious website, using the acquired Facebook accounts. It is therefore worth being careful. As a curiosity, it is worth adding that – according to the study of the multi-comparison website rankomat.pl – as much as 74 percent. Poles have encountered an attempt to scam the Internet at least once in their lives, and as many as 21 percent. lost their money or data as a result of the attack.
