The Louisville Gunslinger Who four bank employees shot dead he broadcast the massacre live and left a note for his parents stating that he would carry out the attack. Connor Sturgeon, 25, broke into Old National Bank shortly after 8:30 a.m. Monday, about half an hour before the branch opened to the public.

The victims included a close friend of the governor Thomas Elliott, 63, and three other bank employees, Joshua Barrick, 40, Juliana Farmer, 45, and James Tutt, 64. Sturgeon carried out the attack with an AR-15 style assault rifle after posting a series of ominous messages on Instagram, including one that read: “They will not listen to words or protests. He was ‘neutralized’ by the police after injuring nine other victims.”

Police confirmed to CNN that Sturgeon had been informed would be fired and that he had left a note for his parents saying he was going to attack the bank.

The mass shooting was the 146th in the United States in 2023, more than the number of days this year, and it came just weeks after the school shooting in Nashville, just three hours from Louisville. Joe Biden then blamed Republicans for not taking action on the gun violence epidemic.

Sturgeon broadcast the attack live on Instagram. The social network said it “quickly removed the broadcast.”

“How many Americans have to die before Republicans in Congress take action to protect our communities?” said the chairman.

Sturgeon grew up middle class in Floyd’s Knob, Indiana where he was a star basketball player at Floyd Central High School.

His father Todd served as coach and resigned from the school in 2022 saying he wanted to spend more time with his family. The friends said today that they “never expected” Sturgeon to be capable of such an attack. Another suggested that a series of concussions he suffered during his college sports career may have contributed to his mindset.

The 25-year-old attended the University of Alabama before attending the Manderson Graduate School of Business at the same university. According to his LinkedIn profile, he had been working for Old National Bank since July last year as a union worker and portfolio banker.

A former high school friend and teammate of Sturgeon’s described the shooter as smart, popular and a star athlete in high school, football and basketball. Sturgeon was also named a National Merit Scholar in 2015.
