Tesla is facing a class action lawsuit for invasion of privacy after revelations that the employees internally shared sensitive images taken with cameras installed in vehicles of the brand.

Electric cars from Elon Musk’s company have multiple sensorsincluding cameras, to accompany the driver aids, says the lawsuit filed Friday by Model Y owner Henry Yeh, consulted by AFP on Monday.

Employees have access to those images “not for the stated purpose of communicating, maintaining, and improving Tesla vehicle power systems,” indicates the request.

But “For the tasteless and criminal entertainment of Tesla employees and possibly people outside the company”says the document, supported by testimony delivered Thursday by the Reuters agency.

Employees released “recordings of Tesla customers in private and embarrassing situationssuch as the video of a man approaching a Tesla vehicle completely naked, videos of accidents or attacks on the road,” he added.

Also, it is possible to trace where the videos were taken, making it possible to identify the owner of the vehicle, contrary to what the company claims, the lawsuit said.

The plaintiff, who accuses Tesla of, among other things, invasion of privacy, violation of consumer law, breach of contract and negligence, is claiming damages.
