The next Apple smartphone and virtual reality headset will receive support for the Wi-Fi 6E standard. It is reported by the Appleinsider edition.
In a disclosed note by authoritative insider Ming-Chi Ko, it is said that Apple is integrating Wi-Fi 6E into the new iPhone 14. This technology should also become one of the features of the future VR headset from the American company.
Wi-Fi 6E is a standard for extending Wi-Fi 6, which allows data transmission in the 6 gigahertz range. Most smartphones, computers, routers and other gadgets operate in the 2.4 and 5 gigahertz bands. According to Min-Chi Ko, the release of an Apple smartphone supporting this standard will attract the attention of the rest of the industry and may cause a shortage of equipment.
As Koh points out, Wi-Fi 6E significantly increases the potential bandwidth for supported gateways and endpoints. The standard offers two or three times as many channels as Wi-Fi 6. This upgrade could increase the complexity of manufacturing iPhones and other gadgets.
In early November, sources found out that the iPhone 14 planned for 2022 may not receive a new generation processor. In this case, the flagship will come with an upgraded version of Apple’s 5nm A15 Bionic chip, which is used in the iPhone 13.
